Veterans Pension
What is the veterans pension
The Veterans Pension program provides monthly tax free payments to wartime veterans, and their surviving spouses when certain service requirements, age, and disability requirements are met. It’s unfortunate that this program came to be known as Aid and Attendance, because this infers that one must need a high level of care in order to be eligible. This is far from the truth, in fact any veteran over the age of 65 is clinically eligible to receive benefits. Aid and Attendance is simply a medical rating that can potentially increase the monthly pension benefit.
In 2022 the typical payments for Veterans pension without Aid and Attendance or Housebound ranged from $1146 – $1500 depending on marital status and number dependants.
